Vince re-records Yazoo track

Vince Clarke has re-recorded the Yazoo track Chinese Detectives. The track, an instrumental, was used during the 1982 tour to rest Alisons voice and has never been released on any formats – except bootlegs. “Essential” – new Yazoo cd-album

EMI is releasing a new Yazoo album on March 19th called Yazoo – Essential, featuring 16 tracks from Upstairs At Eric’s and You And Me Both, including the odd choice I Before E Except After C, but excluding the single The Other Side Of Love. The album is part of a new Essential-series which also includes Erasure, Human League, Talk Talk, Ultravox and other gems. It’s possible to pre-order the album from Lexermusic. English television channel BBC just ran a two-part documentary called Queens of British Pop featuring, of course, Alison Moyet amongst others. Yazoo live at The Roundhouse

I attended the Short Circuit Mute Festival this weekend, and was lucky to watch Alison and Vince perform three songs together on stage – as well as Feargal Sharkey entering the scene to perform Never Never live together with Vince (for the first and only time as far as I know). Blackwing Studios today

While travelling to London and the Mute Short Circuit Festival, I took the oppertunity to visit All Hallows Church in southeast London – Pepper Street 1 to be exact. As You all know this was where the famous Blackwing Studios was located from the end of the 1970′s to 2001. The studios were owned by one Eric C. Yazoo back together again

Happy days! Vince Clarke and Alison Moyet will go on tour in june this year, together as Yazoo. Five concerts are planned – all in UK – but hopefully the duo will play in Europe mainland too. More info at the new official Yazoo-website.

Also a 4-cd boxset called ‘In My Room’ is planned for release in may. The box contains digitally remastered versions of both Yazoo-albums, as well as a remix cd and a dvd featuring the videos for ‘Don’t Go’, ‘The Other Side Of Love’ and ‘Nobody’s Diary amongst others. A new interview featuring Alison and Vince is also included on the dvd.

We have waited 25 years for this…
